Hello Everyone,

New member here from Massachusetts! I just recently got into metal detecting, thought it was a pretty cool experience and wanted to go for it. Does anyone have any suggestions on the type of detector I should use. I'd rather get a good one and learn on that so I don't have to go really simple to something way different. What else do I need with me?

You didn't mention budget so I will suggest a moderately priced metal detector and some must have tools.
The Garret AT PRO is a very capable and versatile machine. It has an excellent resale value if you decide that metal detecting is not for you or if you want to upgrade. Garrett is an excellent company that's stands behind their products.
I use a Lesche digger and a Pro Pin Pointer by Garrett which is water proof.
