Hello -

My first post on this site.

I'm new to coin roll hunting. Started off slow a couple months ago having no idea there was such a large coin roll hunting culture. Just would casually pick up a few dollars worth of pennies to see if I could find some wheat cents to add to my small collection.

Started getting hooked and finally got my first $25 box last Thursday.

Found several wheat cents including a 1909 VDB, a 1934 Canadian cent, a penny with a Masonic symbol stamped on it and a 1964 Roosevelt Dime !

These were in what I assume were machine rolled pennies in a Brinks box.

Here's a pic of a few of the finds:

Too bad the 1909 VDB didn't have the S mintmark. Still fun stuff to find, gratz on the bonus silver dime with your pennies!

love the 1934 canadian penny and the merc dime, what a treat!! Congrats on the find and welcome aboard.

Sincerely, Garoulady

The stamped cent is pretty cool

Finding a silver dime in a box of cents is on my wish list. I've only found one dime in a box of cents, and of course it was clad. Found lots in cwr but no silver yet. And congrats on the king George 5 cent. They are really cool and harder to find then Indian head cents. Welcome to the addiction.

that was a heck of a penny box!

Thanks for the pics. That was a first rate box of cents, a 1909 vdb and a silver rosie--gotta love it! HH :icon_thumright:

All of those good finds came within the first ten rolls of that box!

I see that many of you prefer the term "cent" to "penny".

I did notice on the $25 box of "cents" that I got from the bank that it said the word "BRINKS" on it and it also reads " $25 PENNIES " I guess they didn't get the memo.

I've found a dime two other times so far, clad of course. The silver was a heart stopper. It feels like you found a $100 bill on the sidewalk!

Encouraged by beginners luck, I obtained another box earlier today. This process reminds me of juicing or refining or perhaps Moroccan hashish processing :) Going through 2500 of these things and getting the essence out of it. Here's what I picked out today:

The roll was 50 of the post 1988 Canadians I found.

And these looked pretty nice:

good stuff my man, good stuff. you got a ryedale ?

shreddersz, it doesnt matter what brinks thinks, what does it say on the coin It says ONE CENT. Its

No I realize it's a cent. Just playing with semantics.

My rookie shows, I had no idea that cent is the preferred term. Noted.

I don't know what a ryedale is. I suppose its a good thing to have?

Looks like I'll have to find another 1-200 1909 VDBs to get one of those. Maybe if I get an elusive 1909 VDB-S

Although a VDB-S would pay a good chunk of my mortgage payment.

How much copper should I accumulate before I sell it ? Is it really worth holding onto long term?

A lot of people save $100 face value or 68 pounds of copper pennies to sell on ebay.

The reydale thing reminds of those two guys that tried to run a business on melting copper pennies and failed.

Nice finds, Ilove doing cents but it can take forever.
