Hi Everyone, my name is Glencoe and have been an avid finder/collector for many years and I am excited to find this wonderful site were at last I may be able to glean lots more info on some of my items.I just moved into an old house here in Ontario built in 1860.I was repairing the back stairs that lead up thru the garage and took off the 3rd and 4th tread, looked in and saw an old hand saw,2 chair spindles,a thin metal rod with a round piece at the top and in the corner covered in dust was a stone axe head, black with a greenish tinge and some glitter to it.It is large 11ins long,3.5 ins at its widest, it tapers to 2ins and 1in thick. It comes in at 3.3 lbs which seems heavy for an axe I think. The tapering is not only on the cutting edge but on the top and bottom too.The bottom is square so it can sit up.The strange thing is that the stairs were completely boxed in and while there was dust and cobwebs when I picked it up, the wood on the floor underneath the stone was clean so I presume its been there a heck of a long time.Any info would be greatly appreciated.Sorry about the pics camera is bust.
