new minelab se pro user

I'm awaiting my first "real" metal detector to arrive. The se pro from minelab. Does anybody have any advise for a detectorist in Ca. Maybe settings or certain sounds to listen for. I've already memorized the manual. but from what I have read in the forum you guys have learned the tricks not in the manual... Thanx
