I go opal hunting 6 times year..at Lightning Ridge Australia, town now has population over 6000 ,,big town !!
Thats more fun than running our opal business.
If i had my way id be opal mining full time..my nephew mines ,hes 25 ,hasnt found much yet...last xmas i kicked over boulder rough and it was huge split,,ive kept it in my collection for rainy day..hard to fing that gem...
summers too hot soon so mining stops November till March next year.
So i reckon its sometimes cheaper to but from my site than TO MINE OPAL YOURSELF!!
One day i need to try to prospect for other unique treasures .like gold nuggets or old treasures,at ridge it gets 50degrees c soon so cant go back till april may next year when cooler
