Not too long ago, I uploaded a new paleontology-related page called Plant Fossils At The La Porte Hydraulic Gold Mine, California. It's a virtual field trip to a famous fossil leaf locality at a long-abandoned hydraulic gold mine in the northern Sierra Nevada district, where some 43 species of ancient plants have been identified from the upper Eocene La Porte Tuff, dated through radiometric isotope analyses at 34.2 million years old. Contains a detailed text, plus on-site images and photographs of representative paleobotanic specimens--all with explanatory captions.
