New Poster/Hunter Here - Westchester/Putnam County Area

Looking to start a new hobby and make some new friends. Anyone located in the westchester or putnam county areas of New York?

Also, do I need a permit to metal detect in these areas?

Thanks...I grew up in Yorktown and now live in Mahopac. I plan on practicing for a while with my cheap detector and then eventually upgrade. Do you know if I need a permit to hunt on public land?

I think it depends. County, state or federal. Im sticking to private land for the moment. I know bear mountain you need permit.
