Detector(s) used
Minelab Equinox 600 ... Fisher CZ-70 ... Deus 2 ... Makro Legend
Primary Interest:
Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
I have heard rumor Troy is about to release a new detector they have been working on for the last three years. It will be the most advanced detector ever built by Tesoro.
Waterproof electronics case ...
Detachable from the shaft and hip mountable ...
Large back lit waterproof color display screen ...
All wireless technology ... no wires anywhere!
Dual microprocessor driven and total wireless connectivity to a computer for firmware upgrades and program loads.
Connects with your cell phone thru bluetooth.
Built in GPS tracking for date, time, and exact location marking.
Combined analyzation of VLF and PI modes with the real abaility to tell gold rings from pull tabs ...

If what I have heard is true it is going to knock the socks off all the competition for years to come.
I just hope I can afford one ... :tongue3:

Is Troy actually made by Tesoro? Or are they a seperate company now?

I thought Tesoro only made the X2 for Troy and the X3 and X5 were made by Fisher for the Troy label.

I can't wait to see what it might be....
Nice to see a new ad from them too in the treasure mags...

Gee wow another 10 lb. detector with more stuff then anyone needs Tesoro should stay with their beep and dig machines

I just think someone is running at the gums.

I kinda think we're at the peak of vhf capability.

If I'm correct, the manufacturers are certainly aware of that.

Any new machines will only be marketing ploys.

Tesoro has not been real big on bells and whistles.

I agree rmptr, but there are some features not directly related to detecting like longer battery life, 1/8" plugs, or wireless headphones which are nice to have.

Interesting points for debate, Joelt !

%#$@! I got skunked today... on a quick sweep of a popular volleyball court.
It was dead silence after the battery check tone, from my saber.
...It was a looong tone... I've been expecting the batteries to fade, yet they are holding up extremely well. I even tossed a nickel, to verify my machine. Good to go!
Most of my hunts are of short duration. Rarely over a couple hours, mostly shorter.
I'm real pleased with battery life in a Tesoro machine.
Mine live in the truck, with no particular care or attention.

The only machine that did better, I think, was the Little Yeller Feller.
It was almost like you could install old batteries and they would get better!

I have a preference for the 1/4" audio jacks. They are pretty much the industry standard for most kinds of repetitive and commercial use. I think they are stronger, and have more available surface for proper contact. There certainly is a possibility the headphone industry might be going to the 1/8" plugs, though. I don't know if it's good, or bad.

Do you think we could get proper resolution from wireless headphones?
I suspect it's possible, yet I've never tried any good quality ones.
On my PC I was advised to use a wired mouse because it saves frequent searching for a wireless mouse! No telling where those critters take off to. Someplace they shouldn't be!
Wireless headphones would bump the bottom line price quite a bit, also.

All my opinion and observation.
Great to hear what might be better!

Built in GPS?
Wireless?
Color screen?
If the Whites runs 1600.00 than the Troy would be 2500.00.
Not so sure this is true people.
