Hi I'm new to coin roll hunting, and just ordered my first box of 500 in half dollars from chase, I was wondering if chase is a good bank to start looking for silver halves or should I go to other banks, I called them up ordered it and the teller/banker told me that they get a lot of orders and get a lot of it coming and going, and I just received a call from a teller saying that they have 440 in halves available, should I take the halves or wait for an actual full box to be available, I'm not sure if the 440 in halves was just brought in by a customer or they just got it from a supplier.

Yea but do banks normally get an odd number of halves like that from the truck

Not that I have ever heard of, since they all say they have to order by the box of $500 (for halves). I have heard of some banks being kind to some and ordering a $500 box then sell individual $10 rolls to people that can't buy the whole box. The key is to see the rolls. If they are machine wrapper (rolled over edges & white w/yellow or black) on both sides, then most likely they haven't been searched. If they are standard paper (tan / reddish / etc.) with folded edges on both sides, then they could be CRH dumps or a treasured customer's collection. You just have to decide.

Most banks will voluntarily show you the rolls, others might try to pressure you into buying the whole box and making you check them at home. It really depends on the friendliness of your tellers.

Could have some good stuff. If you don't mind post the results once you've searched them.

Happy Hunting

Not one was silver :(, disappointing, but I should know better, it's the luck of the draw with this from what I've heard

@floridafinder, do you happen to be in pinellas county by any chance

always buy all they have, that way they will be more inclined to tell you when they get more in. It's really nice when they tell you some teenager just brought in a bunch of rolled coins from his Grandfather. Buy everything in the bank then!

No, that's a ways away from me. Is that where you are?

Good thing we won't be encroaching on each others area. Are you north or south in the county? Once in a blue moon I've gone there for my work when I cover for someone else but I've never stopped at any banks. I just started CRHing in Nov.

I'm central but closer to the south, I'm wondering how many other CRHers are in my county

I haven't heard of anyone yet there. I know of a few on this forum that are located on the East coast. I'm still new to this site. There is another FL CRHer but am not sure of his area.

Don't overthink it. Actually, don't even think about it. When you find halves, buy them...all of them...and hope for the best.
