New to hobby, North Central Arkansas

I pulled the trigger today and bought a Garrett AT Max. Should be here in a few days. I know nothing about it but live in an area full of history. I'm in the Ozark Mountains living along a river. There are numerous Civil War sites, old cabin sites and the Trail of Tears went by here. I hope to discover old coins and history. The first settlements were here along the White River and the various creeks. We discover Indian Relics all the time. I can't wait to get started but wish I had an expert nearby to assist.
