Hey all! New to the forum, but have been following threads on and off for about a year. Fun and informative. I ran into this coin tonight amongst MWR of dimes. Not having a whole lot of luck with IDing the coin. Anyone have any ideas to the country of origin? Thanks for your help all.

it's a Thai bat, that man with the sunglasses, and military fatigues is scary looking. avoid the country like the plague, bad place if he's there.

Thanks fitty! Never ran into Thai coinage. I plan on avoiding the country completely.

Yea its a Thai baht. I got one as change from the Thai food joint out in Chicago a few years back. Never could figure out the date of mine. I guess they have some key dates that bring in a nice chunk of coin

It's a Thai 50 satang. 50 satang is basically 1/2 baht. The date is 2547 BE, or 2004. The value is 2 cents in exchange. You have the brass version, the new ones are copper plated steel.

On the front is Bhumipol Adulyadej (Rama IX) - The King of Thailand.
