New to treasure hunting

Hello I am pretty new to treasure hunting and was wondering if anyone can give a little info on good metal detectors. I live on a pretty big farm in German Twp. PA my family stated to me that Indians used to live on the land so im hoping to find something. To anyone out there during the French and Indian war did French or British troops ever go through German Twp.? Kind of a tough question but I would like to know I live literally 30 seconds from the Mon River if that helps?.. I would love to search for some of the local treasure legends like Braddocks lost gold or the ingots of silver that is supposedly hidden around Uniontown. I look forward to your comments..
