Awesome George! That makes it even more special!

Thanks Dave,
Half of the 93rd were from lebanon.
The other half from Montgomery County.

Very cool...hope you get those initials ....how did you clean the front of that buckle?

Thanks Brian,
Just dry brush and a little bit of wax on my finger and wipe it on a little bit. Made sure I left dirt on to high light.

All the more special now. Try as many different angles and light sources as possible. Even a last letter initial may prove helpful. Of course having a copy of that muster roll would go nice with it. Keep us posted

Thanks Nut,
I will try everything I can tomorrow.
Steve of Pa gave me the muster roll, so hopefully I can see something.

Killer find, always exciting to find a personal touch added to a find.
Montgomery County MD?
I grew up and went to High School there until I moved to Colorado.
Didn't get the detecting bug till I moved out here, and still am kicking myself on all the sites I could have hunted.
Kudos!
Carl

Awesome find, and to be able to tie it to a specific regiment makes it all the more special. Don't know what type of property you found it, but it would be pretty neat to be able to find the person in the census reports and see if he fought for the 93d Reg.

Wow, can u imagine if you were able to track this plate down to the family of its original owner? , now that'd be awesome

Put some Veri-Care on it and hold it on differing angles to the light. One my iPhone I see RI, but wil have to take a close look on my MacBook Pro screen. The Verdi-Care is good stuff and will reveal details that are normally very hard to see.

Wow, that's super ! Sure hope you can tie it to a name.

It doesn't get any better than finding a personalized relic, especially one from your local area. That would be awesome to ID its owner and track down one of his descendants. Make for an excellent magazine article :laughing7:. Good luck with that George ....
