new york city button works

Was hunting a new site today near a rail bridge constructed in 1884. I was under the bridge that spans 100 feet across a creek. Lots of trash signals. I dug this button in only 4 inches.

I know nothing about buttons..

This was dug in Northern California

anything would help, i know how good you guys are at this.

the back reads - CITY BUTTON WORKS - NEW YORK

City Button Works (a.k.a. Erlanger & Liebman) existed from 1877 to 1955. The earliest possible date for the buttons would be 1902.
