Heyas!
Always wanted to get a metal detector but never really looked into it. Just liked the idea that maybe one day....Well my dad bought one recently and there was a buy one get one so he got the Bounty Hunter 505 for next to nothing. (his main one is a Garrett something something something...) Well he decided he wasn't going to use the BH so I made the road trip to his house and picked it up. Now almost a week later there hasn't been a day gone by I have been outside for hours.
Our house is from the 1870's and was a brothel/inn/tavern then many years later school house (ya how you make that jump I have no clue) then oldsmobile dealer, then apartment house and now is a totally different business and we live here =) So you see there is a history. They used to sell horses at one end of the yard as well.
Nearby I have an area that had a swimming hole/mini race track, abandoned county fair grounds (got permission to search there but there is a field with corn starting to come up so am scared to walk thru), an old house that has fallen down but they are wanting to fix back up I think it is from the 1850's (should be able to get permission for that), huge park but it floods alot, and then was recently told where the old bleachers used to be for the high school football games etc. (then the off limits old college campus where people had found lots of interesting things in the past)
So yes I am in an old town and people so far have been great with giving permission and information. I am aware of others who are md and they have been very helpful. But no one that I am aware of has been in my yard =D The hubby tho did a lot of work here and isn't one to tidy himself when he drops a nail or two, so well it's like one long beeeeeeeeep when you get back there. But I am slowly making my way thru and cleaning it up. I kinda know where an old clothes line used to be and today found a coin while plowing thru a heavy laden nail section. Sadly I have 0 clue what the coin is as it is badly corroded. Other than that just have some clad from various places and a really neat decorative weight that I found at my dad's and I am pretty sure it was on the old wind chime when I was a kid. He thinks it may be a clock weight but there is something triggering from my early childhood that tells me different.
Anyway stopping the novel now!!! I am addicted!!! Hubby is kinda meh on the whole thing, but then gets all excited if I find something so go figure lol And he was also the one that wants me to see if I can find the little coin box in his parents yard that was buried 60 years ago..sadly may have several feet of dirt on it now but may have had a good $10 worth of coins back then. When I learn my machine better I may go play around there. (wait I said I was going to stop typing!)
So yes hello all! Nice to meet you and have loved reading thru the forums over the last few days. Great info!!!!!!
