Quite true Bob,

I went to my local library and found a set of books on Kansas ghost towns last month am amazed at
the information concerning either small towns or towns that used to exist in this area as well as the
rest of the state.

I live in a small town and would appreciate feedback on places to start once I recv.
my detector in the next couple of days. Here is my starter list.

1. My house property
2. Local grade school.
3. Any city parks
4. Old abandon houses or not lived in houses.

There are a few homes here that someone owns but
never fixed them up to rent. Would the city office be able
to tell me who owns them so I can contact to get permission
to search their property?

Appreciate any suggestions.:)

Curtis

Yes the city office would be the place to ask.
1. check with real estate dealers.
2. Talk with old timers about the area.
3. Look out in the county for old foundations.

If you have not metal detected before. get some 3 by 5 cards & tape coins to one side plus a nail, pull tabs, and other items that you would find in a park.
Place the cards on the ground with blank side up & practice with the detector.
A lot of metal detectorist bury items in the ground and practice that way also.

What kind of detector are you getting?

l'm from Osawatomie Ks. and the best of luck your hooked...

Thank you Bob for the advice on learning how to use it.:)

I found Kellyco last month and decided for my first detector to go the used route
and purchased the MPX digital they had on sale.

It had a good write up on their site so I checked and they had one.

lol after reading through the forums here apparently not to many like that one
except one or two folks.

But I do realize you have to start somewhere so I will give it a chance and see
how it goes.:)
