Newbie from OHIO

Hi everyone i been metal detecting for a year and a half and i love it i have a garrett at pro and a whites vx3. Im not really sure about the vx3 yet i havent got to use it much but every time i do i feel discouraged any tips and hints and maybe settings and dose anyone no if ohio is high minerealized soil here,
