Hello everyone,
I'm newly unemployed for the first time in over 40 years, so I thought I'd get rich prospecting !
Actually I have been prospecting for about the past year, now I can go on a weekday.. less people
So Far I've found 1 flake (Maybe $1.00) in a creek in Amador county that has not been worked in probably 100 years, Quartz Veins, Bed rock etc, looks great.. but failed, I'm using a screen and pan, worked the cracks just nothing really there. My only success was a fluke, I was hiking with my wife on the So Fork American River and stopped to do a couple of quick pans, needless to say I found more in those 2 pans than in the whole past year.
I worked that area for about 4 days total and then nothing! they increase the flow on the weekends for the rafters, so maybe that did it.
I live in an area of Placerville that has a really rich past, I don't have a creek on my property but started digging any way (Tom Massey commented that so many people have gold on their property and don't realize it) anyhow I found lots of Quartz,Shale, some black rock that breaks in half real easy and appears to have some rust in it (any one know what that is?) Long story not so long, I found a speck of gold, however like I said I have a pan or 2 a screen (Can't remember the name to save my life) A sluice box ( rigged with a pond pump) and thats it
Anyone have any advise? Seriously. Also I read that Im looking for "Rusty" Quartz, why? I have tons of quartz that looks as if it has rusted iron on it also some greenish blue spots etc.. hope someone can help.
Thanks , I look forward to making my millions from the knowledge I'll gain from this forum!
