newbie in Jacksonville, FL

Hey everyone, I'm new to treasure hunting and am looking for friends or a club in the Jacksonville, FL area. I'm definitely a beginner but absolutely love the hobby and want to find some others to meet with. I know there's a club in the area but didn't know if those meetings are cool to just show up to uninvited and not knowing anyone? Thanks for any info.

didn't see you -- the local detectorist club meets the second tuesday of each month at the picadillys off monument ( the regency mall one ) meeting "offically" start at 7 pm --but most folks come about 6 to 630ish or so to socailize a bit & get a bite to eat first ( buying a meal is how we pay the "rent" for our meeting room)--new folks and kids are always welcome to drop in and visit -- ivan salis -- club historian *
