Hello everyone, my name is Matt and I am new to the forum

I am usually VERY good at figuring things out, but this one has me stumped

It is a 14k Gold ring, with a Mine cut diamond, and an engraved flower

Here are a few pics, they should speak for themselves

Item is marked 14k no makers marks

Thanks again DSC08273.webpDSC08274.webp

The way its made is weird too, kind of like a 3d effect....

Welcome to the forum!

I have several thoughts about your ring. First of all, PippinWhitePaws had a good idea about a chastity ring, (also known as a purity or abstinence ring), but they became popular during the 1990's when the Bush Administration promoted safe sex. I think your ring is older than the 1990's especially if the diamond is 'mine' cut, plus the gold is smooth from years of wear. Your ring has the female symbol, a lock, and hearts, which leads me to a 'love' ring, although a chastity ring is not out of the question. Chastity belts have been around before the 16th century, so the idea of having an 'antique' chastity ring is surely not out of the question.

Mine cut diamonds date back to the 1830's and was popular up to the turn of the century, so you might want to get a certified gemologist to verify the diamond cut.

You found a most interesting ring. I can say I've never seen one quite like it!

TY very much... It is not one I have ever seen either, at first I thought the piece spun around, it almost looks like it would.... VERY funky ring.. I did have my Gemologist friend verify the mine cut, so that at least we know... No to try and find a picture of it or something similar as eventually it will end up on eBay, definitely to nice to scrap....

So if you see anything let me know, and I will continue to look as well

Since 'fleabay' uses search words in the title, I would add as many words to incorporate info about it. How about:
14K GOLD LADIES RING~MINE CUT DIAMOND~ANTIQUE VINTAGE~SIZE ?~HEARTS~LOVE~PURITY~

(If you have a written appraisal from a certified gemologist, I would put 'APPRAISAL' in the title too.)
