First id like to say Hi and I am very impressed with this site. I'm new to MD and Ive been out maybe 4 times I found a (what is it ?) the other day need help. I live maybe 4 miles from Cassville GA. Union forces had been set up maybe 2 miles from where I am now on May 19th 1864 , this object was found about 6 inches deep on the side of a old road-trail in the woods behind me. Any help would be great . The second pic is of the end it has a curve to it.

Good photos. Is it sharp or once was sharp on one side? Then the obvious would be a knife of some type. Could even be a piece off a wagon. Its been in the ground a long time.. Welcome Aboard!

Yes its a lil hard to tell from the pic but its iron, about 9 inches long looks like its broken off of another piece , someone told me it looked a lil like part of the blade of a bayonet the other side is real smooth sept for the rust.
