Hi all.....I love old things! I recently found a Civil war musician's button. Does anyone know the difference between the 3 string and 4 string leer? Also , does anyone know of reputable appraisers in the Denver, CO area?
Thank you! FB.webpFB.webp

Thank you! Any answers?

I don't have answers for you - but give it a little more time , there are CW button experts here -Welcome to Treasurenet !

Welcome from North Central Illinois. 🙋 Pretty nice buttons. I've found similar...but couldn't tell u the difference. 😞

Welcome to Treasure Net !!
The difference between 3- and 4- string is the ease of learning (and playing).
Are you looking for a button appraiser or some other type of appraiser.
Don.......

An appraiser(s) for several different types of item.
I have been told that there is a difference in when the button was made by the number of strings the leer has?

Cant help on the appraiser issue, but it is a nice old button.

Don't take my word for it, but my guess is post-CW.

When you find out, & want to clean it, use lemon juice 3 minutes at a time with a nail brush, it will come up nice. The back will turn reddish though, so you could just do the front with lemon juice & a cotton bud, just make sure you rinse well afterwards.
