Hey guys, I relocated my post to this thread after looking through the site and discovering this section. A little back-story on my first find: On Tuesday I was at work, considering if it was even possible or probable to look through 'change' and find something more valuable then what was printed on the face of the coin. Not even knowing what it was called, I asked a few friends what they thought. All but one immediately laughed it off, and said even if it were possible, the headache involved would be much more stress then finding one coin. A bit discouraged, but determined, I went to the bank to cash my check. Using $100.00 I got $50.00 in Quarters and $50.00 in dimes. After searching through the quarters and half the dimes with nothing but a few random foreign coins, I was beginning to think my new-found hobby was futile. Then, i opened a roll and spotted not 1, 5, or even 10 dimes, but a whopping 14! I was so elated, I didn't know what to do with myself!

At any rate. I already fluffed the first two rules of CRHing, (Though to be fair I didnt know what it was, or how to even explain it to the people I spoke to, so I think I get at least half-a-pass on that one).

8th rule concerning pictures? Just look down. (I included the two extra ones I found. The Chinese one is Aluminum, neat, but worthless. The Barbados?? Looks Cool - I tell my GF its my Pirate Booty. <3 ) I think I'm going to set it aside for a collection.

I just found out too that dimes without the mint-mark may be worth more. I remember seeing one in searching my rolls, so now I'm stuck at work with the anticipation of going home and re-searching my coins to find that gem! (Hopefully!)

This new addiction is probably worse then crack.

"From 1968, the mintmarks have appeared above the date. None were used in 1965–67, and Philadelphia did not show a mintmark until 1980 (in 1982, an error left the "P" off a small number of dimes, which are now valuable)."

That's from Wikipedia, I wasn't sure so I needed to confirm. So the 1982 "no P" is really the only one you're looking for (or any 1980-on, but I'm not sure any others were made). I have been looking through all my dimes for the 1982 "no P" rather than edge searching, but I have mostly done halves and pennies because of the high yield of keepers. Anyway, I'm new too. It's a lot of fun.

Oh yeah, great score on the dimes! The aluminum coin is probably a Japanese 1 yen... worth about 1 cent, hehe.

awesome score!!! beginners luck to the max! i have yet to find a roll of coins w/ more than 4 silver keepers...nice score! keep it up and hh!
