hello everyone
been lurking here for 4 - 5 months. I have learned so much just reading your posts! Thank you all...you're awesome ! I messed with this obsessive hobby several years back when I spent part of the year at the SC coast. One day I ran across my metal detector and BAM !! the fever returned. I have been hunting all my free time
since March. Mostly I hunt tot lots and city/county parks but always looking for that special property I can get permission to hunt on.....have two with permission but waiting on the snakes to slow down. About two weeks ago I found my first ring, it was 10k with an onyx stone and a name inscribed. It weighed 14 grams. Well, since I have been reading all your postings, I felt compelled to return it if possible. Looked in the phone book and there was the fellows name. I called, we met, the ring was returned. He was kinda happy...he had lost it five years ago playing soccer with a bunch of kids. I found it with a Garrett treasure ace about 3 inches deep. It waffled between a pull tab and a zinc penny and I gotta tell you, I was so excited......chill bumps, dry throat, and believe it or not, a touch of paranoia....yes, I looked all around after i dug it to
see who, if anyone was watching.......is that normal? Anyway, found the ring on Sunday morning, returned it on Wednesday afternoon and then I found my first silver on Friday morning.....a 1964 dime, but hey, it's my first silver so I am happy ! I met another treasure hunter this morning at a local park. we talked, he asked if I had found anything cool, I told him about the ring with the name in it, etc. He said he also found one with a name in it - His name. Then he said his name was 10K. I love this hobby and the people! sorry for the long - windedness, future posts will be more concise. Here's the ring pic. Thanks for being here.
