My son and I got out in my neighbor's yard after work yesterday. Found several pennies including four wheats and a couple of really annoying little aluminum 10 cent Uncle Sam Play Money pieces that were about 6 inches deep and looked just like half-dimes when they came out of the ground. Talk about a let down! Then this big copper fell out of the bottom of the plug and gave me a start, but when I saw the wreath, I knew it wasn't American and stuck it in my apron. After cleaning it and looking it up, I found that it's a bronze Japanese coin produced from 1898-1902 and again from 1913-1915. Reasonably old for around here so, not too bad after all.

That's pretty cool, I too would have been thinking LC.
Congratulations

That's a sweet coin!

I love that rising sun motif. I found a 50 sen (silver) that some GI brought home form WW2.

Congrats on that sweet find.

Right now, offhand, I could not tell you the number of different countries I've found coins from. Always enjoy finding them, and friends always enjoy looking through them, the most recent was from France, dated 1922. Now if it could tell me it's story, I'd love to listen.

That’s a great coin!!

Exactly what I was thinking and hoping. Would've been my first. I got another first instead!

Great find!!!

Very interesting coin recovery! :occasion14:

I like finding foreign coins but usually mine are from South America. That’s considerably older and from farther away. Nice find.

Nice coin, the Asian coins I find all look the same with the same funny markings but arranged differently...with a square hole in the middle. Congrats on a cool find, thx for sharing..Ddf.

Those are awesome...........:icon_sunny:
Any old coin is a good find.

Nice coin, and your title is so appropriate ! I was already wondering what I was going to see when I clicked on it.

I think those with the "square" holes, are most likely Chinese Cash Coins. Always like finding them.

Old foreign coins are fascinating finds.

Gorgeous coin design and sweet patina. That one would please any treasure hunter. Congrats!
