hi all found this button today in the same area that I found three hammered silver coins around 1562 date, could it be that old or just a more recent decor button poss Victorian or later? any thoughts would be fab, thanks , button weighs approx 1 gram is approx 1/2 inch across, looks like silver on the rear or could be white gold which would make it 19th century but am not sure front is decorative with a dark blue possible stone in centre any ideas? nice condition

That's pretty cool. I really like it. Hope someone knows more about it

Sorry, doesn't look silver or white gold, it's a modern 20th C decorative type.

nice find...one key to date is the loop attachment on the back. Rather than ancient (or near ancient as the two hammered coins nearby) that type of development for buttons was relatively recent. Might check if it is a two piece button, or single cast.

Regardless, you have hit it out of the American (or English) ballpark. Nicely done!

In this case it breaks the normal mold as its a 1 piece but 20th C.
