Been looking a this property for about three months now and I finally saw the owner leaning over a dumpster. I didn't know if she was looking for something or if she was sick ( she is really old ) so I pulled in and asked if she was ok. She turned around and said her son through out her paint bottles and she was looking for them. So the nice young man that I am ( 54 ) I did a little dumpster diving ( glad there wasn't much in there ) didn't find them either. After I put the bags of trash back. I told her I had talked to her son about 2 months ago about metal detecting this lot ( he said ok ) but I wanted to ask you because your the one who lives here. She gave the go ahead and thank you for asking me. So today at lunch I did a little swing and found some stuff I think is cool. IMG_20170619_130149622.webpIMG_20170620_134310439.webp
That's my first merry Widow tin. The badge is one of my favorite , but how can I keep the details sharp.

I wonder if that was one of her merry widows from back in her prime? :laughing9: the g-man badge is cool too

Cool toy gyroscope wheel!

Cool finds. I like the tin and I like the Melvin Purvis badge.
He was the most famous G man of them all...

Great finds! Melvin Purvis was the one who got John Dillinger.

Great story! I'm sure you would have helped her regardless of the situation...I have a Merry Widow tin, found it at our local, old fairgrounds..those carneys...lol. Congrats on a good day..Ddf

Truthfully I had no idea who he was until I looked him up. Sure wish I wouldn't have slept through history class.

Nice finds, better story! Good luck on your next trip there..
