Your button is a tombac button from the late 1700's Tombac is amixture of copper and arsenic.

Nice silver and button there. Looks like we need to hunt together again so I can show you how I run my Etrac. It is a great machine once you get used to it. I hope yours will find you twice as much as mine has found for me :).
