I managed to get out 2 days this week in spite of the rain and cold water. Wednesday I went to finish the swimming area I had started last week. I didn’t finish it when I was there last because I had to get home to get grandchildren off the bus.
I managed to find 24 coins with a face value of $1.84 and a nice silver pendant with mother of pearl in it. As usual I also found a few tabs, bunches of annoying foil and the ever present fishing sinkers. Around here if there is water people fish in it and leave sinkers behind for us to find.
Friday I didn’t have to be home for the kids so I had extra time and managed to start and finish another swimming area in a different park. This one was a lot busier this summer and a lot more fun to detect. In 6 hours I found 29 coins heavy in quarters with a face value of $3.66, 3 kiddy rings and a bracelet, 2 cheapy earrings, 2 beads, fishing gear, sinkers and 2 goodies. A 925 silver earring back and in knee deep water in front of the lifeguard chair with a nice solid repeatable 62 on the ATPro, a man’s two tone gold comfort style wedding band. It’s marked Benchmark 14k and weighs 7.9 grams or .25 Troy ounces. As usual with a find like this I checked with the park office and the ring was not reported lost so it is mine for now. I did leave my card with the park office so if someone should come forward and say they lost a ring I can be contacted. I didnt show them the ring or give a description except to say it was a man’s wedding band. That way no false claims can be made and the ring will only be returned to someone who can correctly describe it. I’m a retired school administrator and know that if you give complete info on a valuable item you will have 20 people claiming the item and have no way to determine the actually owner.
Two good days of detecting and my precious metal streak continues at 9 days with 10 silver, 4 gold and 1 platinum. So far the water season is looking pretty good. I still have a few more parks to do and at this point I hope my luck holds and the streak continues.
Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
