Went out to the same spot in Winchester, VA today. Got there around 10:30 and worked one field where we were finding a bunch of colonial buttons and a few large cents. It was pretty dry in that spot and met up with my buddy from work and he said the landowner said he didn't mind if we hit the field right next to his house. So we went over there and my first good signal was a nice General Service Eagle button!! About a foot from that was a spencer bullet. Just kept working this area and then found an early flat button with a design on the front. Found a couple more spencer bullets and the casings to them. One bullet was almost complete, but I think it fell apart as soon as it saw light unfortunately. Mind you all of my finds were deep signals, 12 inches or better. I worked up in a straight line where I found some bullets and got a good signal. Cut the plug and still in the hole. Found the back of a button...rescan the hole, something still in there. Turns out to be the FRONT of a Virginia State button!!! Gosh...figures it was broke. But both pieces are there and the front is nice with a small dent though. Still has a majority of the gold gilt on there! Backmark says "Extra Quality" Found another large flat button and something that looks like a coin but it's too far gone. Working along the fence but out a little ways I found another General Service eagle button! That VA button was definitely the hightlight of the hunt, broken or not! Thanks for looking guys and happy hunting!

Wow,
Nice assortment of buttons !

Keep @ it and HH !!

I would still be doing back flips! Very nice.

Love those relics and that Virginia button is beautiful. Good job and good pictures also. Tennessee digger

Matt, your finds just keeping better & better. Great VA button. At the rate you are going, that CSA plate will come soon. Congrats, Q.

Thanks, Quindy. I'm digging pretty much everything...hopefully that CSA plate is near. Beautiful day to hunt minus the wind that nearly knocked me over and was messing up my swinging! Kept blowing my metal detector back!

Is there a way to reattach the back to the front?

Congrats man, try not to clean out all the spots. I don't know when the next day i can get out???????? U find any coins over there?

I think what I found is a coin. It's probably an old colonial copper. Can't make out anything. All CW stuff. You would think right next to the house would be coins. Sam found a wheat penny over there. Nothing old.

Nice finds Matt. Send pictures of your button front and back to Roland Frodigh. He is a master relic repairman and can tell you how to repair it or if you want to send it to him, he will repair it for a small price. You can find his contact info on MyTreasureSpot.

Thanks, Steve. Everything is there. Front just came apart from the back. I was just thinking some type of glue, but wasn't sure if that would be good or not.

Killers buttons! Iv found 1 button in 2 years of detecting and it was a flat button, hopefully i can get to some older and better sights this summer! HH

Where do you live, bblaha?

Outstanding Matt!! That's quite a day you had.

Thanks, Bill. Not quite as outstanding as you guys lately!

Dang Matt, you are quickly becoming one of my favs besides the awe inspiring aquachigger, homeguarddan, billD, BB and the canefield bandits and so many more form this site. I think you are becoming one with that f75. I am curious if you are making any videos and if not I would hope to see you with a camera soon. Proud of the west virginy boy :headbang:

Thanks, man! I appreciate that! That's holding me up to some pretty high standards with those names mentioned. lol I do have a youtube channel, but I'm an amateur for sure filming. lol Matthew Vaughn - YouTube Thanks for looking and commenting and HH! I didn't get this particular hunt on video, though. Really high winds and one of my pet peeves while watching these detecting videos is trying to hear someone talk over a bunch of wind. lol

Yeah, those are some big names for sure, sorry to make it sound so funny. I just mean that there is a difference in looking at some coins that someone finds or good relics that are found. I am just one of those relic type people. To each there own. It seems like you are doing very well and I enjoy seeing your post more and more. Dont want to break the cycle in anyway for anyone. I will be checking out some of the videos, thanks and keep it up
