Found a nice little arrowhead today. I’d call it scallorn but overstreet doesn’t have those in my region, se Kansas. I didn’t find a great match some had the right notch shape but the wrong base or the other way around. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1563160072.426218.webp

Not sure of the type but that's a killer little gem point. A beauty. Gary

That is exceptional!

Beautiful point!! I don't see how they could cut side notches on such a small point???

Very nice point. That one is in excellent shape for being so small.

Nice find. Great piece right there.

Looks like it was intended to break off and remain embedded in the target with how little material was left at the base. Is that such a thing?

That is a true arrow head and a nice one at that.

I've heard that theory with Cahokia arrow points. They are triangular, and many have 3 notches. A third one at the bottom. The bottom notch is supposedly to allow the lower corners to break upon extraction. I don't know if it's true but if so it would make a nasty wound. Gary

That’s interesting I’ve never heard that but seems plausible

Scallorn are primarily found in Texas, not anywhere close to the Ozarks plateau. That's a Sorter's Bluff arrow point, which you will find in the latest (15th) edition of Overstreet.
