A guy from Facebook contacted me regarding this Newark NJ crock, it's not what he collects and he figured I would be interested since it's not far from Paterson. He threw a number at me and I was on the fence about it and asked him to give me a few days to think about it, he said sure, no problem. Then the next day one popped up on Ebay, he sent me the link just in case I wanted to see what the masses thought it was worth. The one on Ebay had a few chips and a hairline crack right through the script and sold for almost double what he offered the jug to me for, so when I emailed him and asked if he still wanted to stick to his price he told me "Yes, that's the price I was asking and I'm a man of my word."

You have to love a guy like that, so it was a no brainer for me, it should be here tomorrow. J. Reitzel was a grocer in Newark and I'm assuming this was a pickle crock...

Your crocks are so much different than ours out here , older. Congrats on your newest addition !

NICE! How big is that baby? 2-3-4 gallons? I only see the broken pieces- heartbreaking, really. But I don't shop- or actively seek them out. I just bump around the coastline dumps, hoping for the best. Have found whole ones, but no writing, and nothing- NOTHING like anything in your collection. And that guy- the seller- a man of excellent character, I'd say! Yak
