Stopped into one of my local honey-holes and asked for dimes; got $200 worth of CWRs that only produced 1 roosie but the teller said some old lady dropped off a bunch of loose "thin" dimes and brought her tray over to me. She pulled out 4 mercs, all thin, one is a 1916 but the back is worn so much I cannot tell if it had a D there in the past or not! Is there any way to determine this with technology somehow? Another merc is missing exactly 25% of it, the bottom half of the front side of the dime, looks like the planchet cracked then was peeled off so no date can be read. Interestingly, she said there were a few more "thin" dimes and she had been giving some out as change since yesterday afternoon!
I asked if the lady dropped off any halves too and she said yes and she had sold them to the other teller who then sold them to me: [12] 40%ers out of $8.50 worth!
[12] 40%ers
[5] silver dimes
[1] hour lunch break!
