... Of American nickels. For those of you who read my earlier post about seeing someone dropping off lots of nickels at a bank, I went back yesterday and got all $120 worth the bank had. They didn't have a nickel box so they put the rolls in a quarter box. To be honest I am counting 70 rolls they gave me but they only charged me $120 so right off the hop I get an extra $20, I noticed this when I was half way through searching last night. I guess they need to count a little better and pay closer attention next time
.
So yes, I got 12 solid rolls of american nickels, I just have a habit of keeping american nickels, pennies and quarters, dimes are too common. Let me tell you, the guy who owned these before me was a strong smoker.
I found 3 pounds of pure nickel, which is a little less than average.
The older american nickels I found are as follows. 1939, 1940, 1957D, 1959, I then found some non proof S nickels, 1968S, 1969S, 2x1970S. Those were the first S nickels I have found from the 60s and 70s. Can anyone tell me how common they are and the mintage.
I found about 20 young queen elizabeth nickels. 1941 George VI, 1951 George VI refinery commemorative nickel.
All in all I am glad I went back and got all these because now I can probably put together a nice Jefferson nickel collection.
Also I found a 1967 centennial rabbit ender and a 3 dimes.
Merry Christmas to all and hopefully christmas brings you good finds.
