a lot of people save the pre-1960 jefferson nickels. most of the jefferson's don't have much value except the key dates and the war nickels however. it's up to you really.

Anything special about pre 60 ones?......and what are the key dates?

I meant i know what the term "key dates" means.....but which are the key ones?

1950 d is the big one. semi key dates are 38d 38s 39d 39s if i'm not mistaken. also the 43-45 nickels are silver(35% i believe) and some of the 42's are too. they will have a big mint mark above the monticello on the back, that means they're silver. so hold on to those for sure.
