Found 6 inches down at a historical site. The site use to be an old baptist perish home. Pics with dollar coin

Seems like at one point it was a closed tube, with some sort of probe coming off each end. I'm at a loss here. It rang as nickle.

It is a temp. probe for a thermostat.....used for heat trace, etc.......sorry, not old...

Yep, part of a refrigeration system... a capillary device.

Agree with everyone, temp sensor. maybe from int/ext thermometer, more likely from refrigerator/freezer/AC system.
