Hi guys, Picked this one up tonight at a old park I like to hunt. Looks like it went on a key chain or something because of the hole in it. On the front right below the hole it has a guy in full armor. Just is half top of his body though. From the waist up. It has the letter b to the right of his head and to the left. Then it has to big B's in the middle going the opposite direction that they should be. Then it just has some lines and grooves around it for decoration.

When flipped over to the back It has the letter Y. Then 874 after it. I was able to get this thing cleaned really nice. It would be about the size of a quarter if it wasn't oval shaped. It's about the same thickness as one to. It looks to be made of nickle due to the silver color that came back when cleaned. Maybe it's British or something. I have know idea. Looks to be from a organization or something. Maybe someone out there may know what it is. I am open to any idea so just shoot.

Thanks again guys. I'll have more pics soon. Just wanted to throw this up tonight for a post. I'll look forward to what you guys may be able to come up with. Oh yeah most coins from around the area we found were 80 to 100 yrs old. So I think that is the time period of the piece.

Nice Jer. Very interesting relic. The letter and numbers on the back suggesst that it's a identification tag. It is from the late 1800's: you can tell from the design of the number 7 on the back. Also I beleive that the head of the guy may stand for a "o" making it BOB. This is also suggested under the guy is a oval shape which might be a "o" also and a backwards B and a regular B on either side of it spelling BOB. Hope I didn't confuse. Very nice find.

I'm pretty impressed man. For someone who is only 15 seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Me and my brother thought to from the style of the numbering on the back that it was from the 1800's. I never looked at it as saying bob. It makes seance. It looks like it could be that. That was a good spot on that. Sometimes it takes more than one eye to spot something. Me and my brother will look over one another's finds after we come in from the field and we will both spot something different about some thing that the other missed.

If anyone out there knows anything else or may know exactly what this is or can agree with Matt that it's a identification tag that would be cool.

Thanks Matt HH Jer

here is a thought...could it be some type of old hotel room key tag or baggage claim tag? Initials for a hotel perhaps?

Thanks alot guys for all the help on this one. Didn't know what this one was. Pretty interesting to learn about. Probably won't find to many of these due to they were probably held onto good. I know I would of kept it safe. I wonder if there is a market for these kinds of credit type coins. I guess I will have to get a few books to learn more. But I live in Pittsburgh p.a so it all makes real good seance. Thanks for the info buckram. And the link of history with it. I knew you guys could bring it to life here on this forum.

Thanks again for all your help guys. Wish you the best of luck. Take care Jer

Yeah I love the steelers. Big sports fan here. My neighbor got a yellow cavalier all decked out in the steelers. This guys house and front yard is all steelers. He's a good guy. He's a die hard fan. You don't mess with no steeler fans. We came up a little short last year. I'm tiered of new england. I think it's going to be a good season again though this year for the steelers.

Lot of guys here in this city detecting. There's still alot of spots still left though that they didn't get. It would take a life time just to hunt this city out. I don't think it could be done. It's on of my main detecting grounds and the finds are still here. I detect alot. We have alot of old area's around that most detectorist are to timid to travel into. There's alot of good finds left for those who can persue it. You may actually see me somewere detecting.

Take care man Go Steelers

I hear ya, buddy! We got close and the Patsies beat us again! Seems we have established a great rivalry. At least they won this SuperBowl by more than a field goal. They got lucky the previous two SB wins, BUT a win is a win and I gotta have respect for them!

Maybe if I ever head up there again, we can do some hunting for some nice coins and jewlery!
