Deep has it right!! Flint from a flintlock rifle, musket, or fowling piece which is a cool find, but finding it with the lead pad (used for better grip on the flint) is way cool!! Google flintlock musket and you will see how it was used if you are unfamiliar with these type of firearms.

Very cool indeed. The flint looks freshly knapped.

That would be military as most non-musket flints would have used leather as a cushion. Lead slows down the hammer but helps guarantee sparks.

Good info.! I had no idea. -Were these marked?, As there seems to be be markings on the metal piece.
