No idea what this is...made out of lead.

Found this in an open field in Northern Michigan (which had a farm house there in the mid 1800s). Made out of lead...to include the screws (poured lead so all one piece ).

Another one almost exactly the same was posted here in the What-Is-It? forum a couple of years ago. The consensus of opinion here ended up being that the object was a lead "patch" poured into a gap in a round wood fencepost or other pole which previously had had screws in it. (Note that the top of this object is rounded.) The screws were removed by unscrewing, leaving their threaded holes in the wood, before the molten lead was poured into the gap. Eventually the wood rotted away, leaving the lead "casting" of the gap and screws.

looks like a woodworking biscutt. now made of wood. Used in furniture and cabinets. This looks like it was used to repair something that already had wood screws in it.
