This is about 1 3/8 inches in length, and I don't know its composition. I found it near a Revolutionary War Site/Continental Army Camp, but I know I won't be that lucky. Thanks for looking!

Very old style pipe coupling. If it was in better condition I would offer to buy it.

I have couplings like that on an engine built in 1904. I think they changed to a stronger banded style in the teens.
