well I can finally post without immediately being logged off but the format for attaching pics is different and I can barley get it to work... found this in the woods near my 1820's site and also near an old sandstone quarry looks like half a bullet but its not broken and it looks like solder or something inside on one end but I don't know, part of a whistle?

it was originally greenish gray I cleaned it with naval jelly and a wire brush I think its brass

it kind of looks like it, there is a more grey rougher kind of metal on part of the inside

I think it WAS a brass cartridge case. It may have been "reworked" for another purpose. This was often done "back then" to provide something for a special purpose. Just a guess. ╦╦Ç
