Hi All,

I don't really have much of a story to go with this post other than to say the items displayed came from several hunts over the past month or so, and I hadn't got the chance, until now, to post them.

The spots hunted include some beaches on the north shore of massachusetts, some local parks and schools and Au4me2's magic field.

Enjoy the pictures and Happy Hunting,

Johnny Cache Hunter

P.S. The silver seated dime was my first seated coin of any denomination.

Very nice assortment of finds, loved the pics.

I have *never* seen a Seated coin with that kind of detail on the obverse.
Incredible!

First, I must say that I love your name! ;D Second, the mighty bean is a hoot. My daughter used to collect them. They'll probably be the toy that her generation likes to detect for, I think there is a metal ball in the bottom of them and since they are plastic they should be here for generationaftergenerationaftergeneration.............

You have been busy, great assortment of finds. I love the horse ring! The soil sure has been kind to the coins around here huh, nice one? What the heck is that little pill shaped guy? Does it open, was there anything inside? Thanks for getting the stuff together and showing us, I like how you did the skull!

OOps we have an answer, but what is a mighty bean?

Nice finds up there on the North Shore of Masss from a guy on the South Shore of Mass. Beaches are thinning out and the finds are scarce. It looks like the parks and tot lots are going to be it for awhile. Awesome seated dime, need to get me one of those.

Dime is great.

You should try looking around e-bay..... I think your horse ring may be a radio or tv show premium. Maybe the lone ranger?

I get the feeling that the horse ring could be very old.
It is fairly chunky and made of sterling silver, the word "Sterling" is just visible on the bottom of the band, plus it's sized for a man not a child.

I found this ring at the back of a middle school that was likely built in the late 1960's.
There is an open field in the back for general playing, meaning it's not set up for baseball or soccer or anything like that. That's where this ring came from.

However, this is the same spot were I pulled out a silver spoon with a pat. date of 1894 and an early "good for" coupon for ".10 cents off colgate ribbon cream", which dates to around 1920.
So I think it's safe to say that there is more history to this place than just the school that sits there now.

Thanks for the reply and HH,

JCH

If that's your first seated,it was worth the wait. She is a beauty. Congrats

Sweet finds. I think any seated coin deserves a story. ;D Congratulations on a first. My son and I haven't found any of those this year. We found a few last year. They are not easy to come by.

The other stuff is good too - I like the ring. :)

Bob
