noisey head phones

should there be a noise on the head phones at all times? it changes when you hit a target but annoying. useing a garrett 1500 please advise

I'm not shure what your talking about.
It should be the same noise you get without Headphones.
A steady tone. Unless you got SILENT SEARCH
It should be Just loud enough to be heard.

the detector is silint when searching untill a target hits but with the head phones it hums, this is in coin mode and all others.

I agree with dogxray, sounds like you've got your threshold set high.

Ditto threshold set too high. According to the manual you should just barely hear the tone in the background. You can run completely silent but not the best setting. JIM
