Hello to anyone who reads this. I am a new member from Oregon currently but find myself heading to Nome in the next couple of months to check out the town and see if i can find myself counted eventually as one of it's residents. I've lived in Fairbanks for awhile before and worked off the coast fishing for king salmon previously as far as my Alaska experience goes. Being prior military I've always been busy so due to that coming up there I am a certified scuba diver and dry suit diver with my equipment specialist course also under my belt. On top of that I am a mechanic who is hopefully (depending on weight for the airplanes) bringing up some of my own tools. The reason I list all of this is I am wondering for those of you in the know with such a skill set do you think it would be tough for someone to find a place and/or somewhere to work in Nome? I'm not expecting any grand gold dredging job or any of the stupid crap i know some folks think about when it comes to Nome mind you. I am coming up there with a guaranteed income monthly from the VA so I have a level of self sufficiency that hopefully exceeds what I need, but I would rather be part of a group of folks doing something then be off to the side on my own if that makes any sense. I am asking in here as I have been assured the people in this forum are stand up and are an excellent source of information. I look forward to seeing this in action and say thank you greatly for any helpful advice in my Nome adventure as it progresses down the line.
