My daughter foud this large point/blade while we were gold prospecting near Dahlonaga, GA. The closest I can ID it would be some type of Maples point, but I am very new to this. It is made from white quartz and is 2.25 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. Any help is appreciated.

Could it be a damaged Morrow Mountain??

It looks like a Morrow Mountain to me.

Just curious, how much would tat amount of gold be worth?

I have not been down there in a while. Nice gold also. I think the guys nailed your quartz point. I have one identical to it in quartz as well. If you are finding gold around here you usually find quartz. If you are finding quartz look for gold. Here is one identical Morrow from not far from you

Thanks for the info. We find points occasionally while prospecting. They sound like broken glass when they shake through the rocks in the classifier. The gold pictured weighs 8 grains so it it worth about $20 by weight, but close to $100 if ebayed individually.
