Here to attend a wedding. Man, I have freakin hammered these beaches with little to show for it. Wondering if I am in the nowhere world of summer traffic sand stripped away before the lower levels are exposed later in winter. I haven't hunted edges in the surf, but have been out at low tide the past 3 days.

Any suggestions are welcome. Otherwise, I'll just wallow. :laughing7:

Really nice to see others' find during these times.

Try the high sand in front of the dunes!

boy, really appreciate the response! what are the reasons for that? no worries if u don't want to divulge.

The sandy beaches have been a 'nowhere world' for me too ::)

Ditto

I have never hunted the ocean beaches but watching others, they always try to find where the beach has been cut into or washed down to darker colored sand by the waves. HH

yes, i have been hunting the cuts really hard, near the surf. i figured the heavier objects (wink wink, nudge nudge) would tend to settle there. i have been dismayed at the complete lack of targets, trash included. I mean, some bottle caps here and there, etc. but nothing like i expected.

i guess it helps to hear that others have a hard time with this as well.

Yes you have to read the beach. Erosion is what to look for. Everything is deep for the most part .That is why storms are so exciting because they really can move the sand around.

I drove down to the OBX this past spring and MD'd for 4 days. I found 37 cents. I was not thrilled. I stopped at a park on my way home and found $4 or so in clad in 30 minutes as well as a small silver ring. When I got home I found $2.75 in my lawn in about an hour. The OBX are pounded by amateurs and pro's alike, so they get well picked over. Of course, there is tons of good stuff buried in that sand. I didn't have a lot of experience on the beach when I went down, so that may have a lot to do with it too.

all helpful comments, thanks.
