A guy at work found out I’m “into coins and treasure hunting.” He found this with a Merc in a leather pouch 6-7 inches deep. Slightly bigger and heavier than a Morgan or Peace dollar. Who, what, when, and why?

Took it to Treasure Hunt, a franchise in the Pittsburgh area at least; mostly copper, with zinc and nickel and silver plate. I could have waited for your answer but I wanted to know the percentages! Thanks!
