that's bigger than what we get in NH.

I drive through VT on my way to NH - I might have to stop by sometime.
Oh, but I can't use my dredge (or much more than hands-and-pans) in VT. That's no fun.
Oh, but with hands-and-pans I have a shot at getting a picker or two like No Gold in NY got? That IS fun...

I'm so confused!

No Gold in NY, is it a trick of the light or are the two pickers/flakes on the dime very different shades of yellow?
I know gold can be of differing purities, and the impurities can give it different shades. But I also thought that gold from one location was usually consistent, so I'm just wondering about your samples.

Brian,

I have been told that the darker gold is referred to as "old gold" in that it hasn't moved in perhaps hundreds of years. The lighter color stuff has been moving more recently. All came from the same place, same day.

That's a nice piece in any state. Looks to be alloyed with some other metal maybe?

My understanding was that darker colored gold or slightly redish tint is beacuse it has more copper in it then silver and the more lighter yellow stuff has more silver.

Too different rivers. The gold in the first pic is from the NF American and all the gold I get there is noticeably more red then say the SF American, Bear or S yuba20170418_194303.webp20170430_143700.webp

Nice

Nice looking gold no matter what the color is due to metal content. :award_star_gold_3: Thanks

If only the gold could tell us it's story!

I'd say that the one has iron staining on it and if you were to clean it with muriatic acid or some other acid it would shine up just like the other one. Not that you would want to do that because the iron staining gives it character.
