Went to one of my many dry holes and got these. 2 round balls one might be carved and a thing. It has words on it but even with my microscopic glass I can make it out. Any ideas? IMG_2515.webpIMG_2516.webpIMG_2517.webpIMG_2518.webpIMG_2511.webpIMG_2512.webpIMG_2513.webpIMG_2514.webp

Hello, the Octagon looking thing is a cap to a tube of some kind of ointment or dental cream. Paul :coffee2:

I'm not dead either...but...I went through $15,000 in quarters looking for the West Point quarters and had some luck...went to the beach and got some clad...sorted out stuff and sold a bunch of stuff I had purchased once...cleaned the carpets...took the cat to the vet...broke a lock on my truck's door...watched it rain again.

I actually did some selling myself on some of my silver and gold coins I bought awhile ago and been watching a lot of rain. But man is it humidity hot out here!!!

It's not bad here yet. Been doing tons of stuff to the house since I retired. Getting a new drop ceiling in the basement next week. I may do the beach a little, I did great on gold there in 2017 but didn't bother going much last year. It's far away and blasted hot! And on top of it, a man's medium size 14k wedding ring will only fetch about $30 used. I spend more on gas.

This is the summer for me to play catch up, or make a feeble attempt. My 12 1/2" by 20 1/2" barn has been settling for some time now. Today I emptied the barn of equipment and tools into our garage. Saturday I'm having the barn moved from the right side of our camper to the left side. When this is done I have more projects waiting. A domino effect. I can't wait to do some relic hunting.

Your "thing" looks like it could also be a cap to a gun powder flask or powder container from the 1860's

Good to hear from ya T. Good luck out there! I’m having to change my strategies around here too. Not as much low lying fruit.

Oh I definitely water hunting this year I’ve been researching old swimming holes at the many rivers we have everywhere you turn and Lake Ponchatrain about 10 minutes away. New Orleans is on the South shore on the lake. The causeway bride is the longest over a full body of water bridge in the world at 24 miles. IMG_2519.webp

How hard of a move is that?

It was 8” deep at a 1812 home. I which I could find it. I so desperate from treasure lol

I have been over the Lake Ponchatrain Bridge more than once...

Strategies are going to have to change across the board,Ive seen many posts this year of people who are on the brink of being done. Myself included. Once you’ve hunted spots within an hour and a half drive from your home base with very little return with the best of today’s machines, things HAVE to change. It’s either hunting for things OTHER than coins for me,or getting into door knocking, which I’m still not sure about. Put the lack of targets together with things on the back burner that need to be done....it doesn’t take long to think that maybe, just maybe....this thing is coming to a close for now. I love hunting as we all do. It just has to have some kind of tolerable return, which lately,it does not.

Well Truth sometimes it’s just nice to get out with a friend and the detector. I’m sure you and Possum have a blast. Nice to see your still alive and swinging. Take care and good luck next time out.

I just went to my 1812 permission and hunted for 2 1/2 hours with nothing. Nothing but rusty nails

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

My eyes are *not* any better! But, I think it says "Merit".

Keep on keeping on! :icon_thumright:

You will break out of the slump soon just like bassman, just keep swinging :icon_thumleft:
