I'm not familiar with buttons . I don't find many but I dug this one yesterday. From looking at many pics, most eagles are looking to the viewer's left. This one is looking to the viewers right. Also the button is ringed with stars. I can't see anything on the back. I really don't want to clean anymore as you can see how fragile it is. IMG_1226.webps

Show us a pic of the back, please.

Probably but I need to clean it. I'm just using a toothpick and tooth brush. I'll try it later this evening it's just darn fragile.

Try backing off about a foot and take some more pics in natural daylight but not direct sun. When you click on the front picture a couple times it rotates to the correct position but is too blurry for my old eyes to make out any detail. Can you see a shield with the letter D in it? Can you tell what the eagle is holding in it's talons or is it standing on something. The down swept wings makes me think it might be Confederate but there is no match for it in Albert's button book.

How is this? All I can tell is that the eagle faces the opposite way from most eagle buttons. I have attached a dragoon button for comparison.IMG_1231.webpIMG_1228.webpIMG_1228.webp
